Mrs. Newbury and MLK

Mrs. Newbury's students performed a choral reading for us to help us celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

These students showed us how to use expression to improve fluency.

Thank you for sharing your talents, Navigators.

Aaron Passes Addition XtraMath!

Aaron is the first person in our class to pass the Addition portion of the XtraMath program! Good work, Aaron. You should be proud of your efforts. On to subtraction.

If you want to join Aaron and have your certificate on our Wall of Fame, you can work on this goal each night at home.

Holiday Party Time!

We had ourselves a little party in December.

We decorated holiday trees.

The room smelled of sugar and frosting.

Tongue depressors make good spreading tools.

More candy may have gone in our mouths rather than on our tree.

We each had a bag of assorted candies to use for decorating.

'
One of our students demonstrated how his sister twirls the cake when frosting a cake, so he did the same to his tree and the affect was one we all admired and tried. The result was a wonderful surprise.

Each student donated candies and frosting to the cause. Thank you for participating. I hope you enjoyed eating your way through your party.

Holiday Sing-a-Long

Here are a couple of our elves showing their holiday spirit!

The gang enjoying some instruments I brought to the assembly.

We are so lucky to have Mr. Abernehty and Mr. Lofstrom! Here they are teaching us how to do the Reindeer Slide. Shake your tail feathers! Go on! Do it!

Mr. Ficken's Gift - A Holiday Story

Each year, Principal Ficken likes to gift each classroom with a holiday story.

We enjoy his fluency and time with us.

Thanks, Principal Ficken for your holiday story that had a good message about gratitude.

It's Snowman Hot Chocolate Day!

In order to welcome the students back after the devastating news that came out of Connecticut,  I decided a Snowman Hot Chocolate Day was in order to make the students feel safe and secure and happy to be in school.

Snowman Hot Chocolate: hot cocoa, chocolate, candy canes, marshmallows. I forgot the whipped cream - gasp!

We even had our very own mugs with lids. We had a good day together. Yum!
