Colorful Turkey Art

First we cut out our turkey parts.

Then we glued them onto the paper.

Next we painted our hands.

After that, we cleaned our hands.

Finally, we posted our festive turkeys in the hallway for others to enjoy.

Each turkey has its own personality, don't you think?

Where There's Smoke, There's Science

Ms Kirsti, from the Kent Fire Department, came to visit us
. She taught us about the Triangle of Fire, what makes up smoke, how smoke alarms work, and how important a fire escape plan is for our safety.

She also brought us a treat to help us remember her visit and our learning.

We got a SNIFF coloring book and a bracelet.

Thank you, Kirsti, we learned a lot from you.

Thank you for the gifts, Ms. Kirsti.

Student Council Elections

Cjay brought his election poster in to muster up votes.

Then Daniela brought her mighty poster in to catch some votes.
Then Jade brought her poster.

We had a difficult choice to make between these qualified candidates.

Our student council representatives: Jade and Cjay... by one winning vote.
Who says your vote doesn't count? Not us!

Harvest Party + Pumpkin Bowling!

We had a lot of yumminess for our Harvest Party.

Thanks to all of you who donated to our party.

We ate, played Bingo and Pumpkin Bowling.

Pumpkin Week - Sink or Float?

Today's task was to find out if pumpkins sink or float in water.

First we had to make a hypothesis.

Next we had to collect data by asking our friends if they thought a pumpkin would sink or float.

We used these three pumpkins. Does it matter the size? Color?

In order to do our best work, we had to have some nourishment of pumpkin bread.

Here we go. We had to collect our data.

Once we finished collecting our data, we wanted to represent the data in a table.

Our orange crayons came in handy while working with a table.

Next, we decided to take data on the entire class.

Then we decided to test our hypothesis. The biggest on floated.

The middle sized pumpkin floated.

So did the little one. All three floated, so the size nor color mattered. Why does a pumpkin float? Ask your a student in Mrs. Standlee's class. S/he can tell you.

Pumpkin Week - Odd or Even Seeds?

Today's task was to count a handful of seeds and write the total down on the worksheet.
Then circle whether the total was odd or even.

We used popcorn seeds because Mrs. Standlee could not find enough pumpkin seeds.

We got to try this six different times with six different handfuls of seeds.
